Jeff Lambert is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Primary Care based at the University of Exeter Medical School. He currently coordinates a range of research projects in the Primary Care group.

Jeff specialises in the fields of behavioural science, mental health and physical activity; and has applied his skills in commercial, clinical and academic settings. After completing his MSc in Health Psychology, Jeff worked for a company developing interventions to improve medication adherence in various patient groups. However, in 2013 Jeff returned to academia to pursue his PhD where he developed and evaluated a web-based intervention using behavioural activation to promote physical activity in people with depression.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) Psychology (University of Winchester)
  • MSc Health Psychology (University of Southampton)
  • PhD Health and Wellbeing (University of Exeter)

Research

Research interests

Jeff's research is focussed around intervention development and fidelity; in particular, the design and evaluation of complex interventions to promote behaviour change and improve physical and mental health outcomes. He also has a broader interest in the use of physical activity as a treatment for depression and uses a range of methodologies (web-based delivery methods, ecological momentary assessment and accelerometry) to explore this.

Research interests/skills

  • Physical activity and depression
  • Behaviour change
  • Intervention development and fidelity
  • Web-delivered interventions for mental and physical health
  • Ecological momentary assessment
  • Systematic Reviews

Research projects

  • The eMotion trial
  • Detecting temporal patterns in the relationship between physical activity and mood using ecological momentary assessment (EMA)
