Dr Ian Fussell
Community Sub Dean
Ian has worked in Cornwall as a doctor since 1990 and for the Medical School ever since it first opened in Cornwall. During that time he has been a Senior Medical Advisor for the local Primary Care Trust and his responsibilities included management of the GP performers, Serious Untoward Event investigations, leading the local GP Appraisal Team and quality monitoring of general practice. He has been a member of the national Revalidation Developmant Team and until very recently was a Cabinet Member of the Assosciation for Medical Humanities.
He is the Community Sub Dean for Cornwall and the Clinical SSU Lead for UEMS and is leading the development of an IT moducle in the new MSc in Clinical Education in Exeter.
Ian is a clinician currently working as an Urgent Care GP Newquay Health Centre and in West Cornwall Hospital, the same hospital that he started his Cornwall medical career in.
He is interested in Event Medicine and organises teams of medical students to help provide first aid care at Glastonbury Festival. Ian is a ftaher of 4 and is a keen surfer, cyclist, runner, swimmer and plays the guitar in a local rock band.
