Emma joined the Exeter Research Facility in Aug 2019 in a dual capacity. She is training as a Diabetic Specialist Nurse as well as specializing in diabetic research.
Emma qualified as an RGN in 1998. Her background has been in general surgery and has an interest in education and health promotion. She specialized in spinal surgery at the Queens Medical Centre Nottingham, UK and bowel surgery at The Mercy Hospital, Auckland, NZ. For the previous 14 years she was a staff nurse and team leader at Exeter Nuffield Health. Here she became a diabetic link nurse and developed an interest in the condition. Emma’s role included education on management of the surgical patient with diabetes and working alongside medicine management to audit protocol.
