A registered nurse with clinical specialism in Emergency Room nursing, mentorship and supervision. Alison has previously led on admissions, academic programs and academic modules; such as international nursing, return to practice, overseas nursing and emergency care. Alison developed the EU aptitude test and international nurse test of competence whist based at the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Following this, she managed the implementation of the practical test at the Competency Test Centre, based at the University of Northampton. Alison is also a quality assurance visitor for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and has provided external consultancy on competency testing and nurse education. Alison has developed an exciting, innovative and integrated curriculum for our undergraduate MSci programme for Nursing at the University of Exeter. This is based on our six pillars of nursing, (Fundamental Essentials of Nursing Care, Evidence for Practice, No Health without Mental Health, Patient Public Involvement, Leadership and Management and Global Health. The programme has been carefully designed to allow flexibility, specialism and either single or dual registration as an Adult or Adult and Mental Health Nurse.
