Further study

Would you like to acquire new skills, progress in your career, and continue to learn?

Whether you study on-campus, virtually, or via a blended learning programme, you'll be supported by the University of Exeter's world-class faculty with wide-ranging opportunities to develop interdisciplinary and vocational skills. Options for further study include:

Our CPD courses are designed to develop your skills and abilities and expand your knowledge in key areas of professional learning and practice. They are usually between 10 and 24 hours of study, with several of our courses delivered virtually, and may bear CPD points (see individual course details). They are typically aimed at those already working in or considering moving into the course area, or those that wish to pursue further study and personal development.

We also have postgraduate modules, which are part of our postgraduate programmes, that may be taken individually with or without credits (i.e.with or without assessment) for the purposes of CPD.

If you are interested in attending a postgraduate module (see below) on a non-credit-bearing basis (without the assessment), please contact the CPD Team at the College of Medicine and Health, UEMS_CPD@exeter.ac.uk

However, if you are interested in attending a module with credits, please contact us.

Our postgraduate programmes (PGCert, PGDip and Master's courses) equip you with the advanced skills and knowledge you need to progress in your chosen career, improve your employment prospects, and develop your expertise.

Postgraduate programmes are divided into units of study called ‘modules’ that are assigned a number of ‘credits’. The credit rating of a module is proportional to the total workload, with one credit being nominally equivalent to 10 hours of work. A 15 credit module is therefore equivalent to 150 hours of work.

A PGCert may be gained by completing 60 credits of postgraduate modules at level 7 (i.e. Master's level modules).

If you are interested in attending a postgraduate module (see below) on a non-credit-bearing basis (without the assessment), please contact the CPD Team at: UEMS_CPD@exeter.ac.uk

There is also the research-based MRes Sustainable Futures which seeks to produce a new generation of researchers who can address the pressing social issues of sustainability in the face of a growing global population. Through a broad interdisciplinary approach, gain an understanding of the economics, law, politics and psychology of sustainability, as well as the geography and demographics of those affected.

Healthcare Leadership and Management will provide you with the time, space, and support you need to become a compassionate, inclusive and effective leader of the future. You will join a safe ‘practitioner researcher’ led environment of learning where you can share your ideas, perspectives and current experiences in response to realistic scenarios. We’ll challenge you to consider offering solutions alone and in collaboration with others, supporting your development as a leader. You will learn how to analyse, synthesise, evaluate and reflect on the translation of research-based evidence into healthcare practice.

The MSc can be taken part-time over 2 or 3 years, or you could learn alongside working with the Senior Leader (Healthcare) Apprenticeship. Please contact the Programme Director for further information.

The Global Sustainability Solutions programme is about the application of academic learning to real-world sustainability challenges. Our impacts on the Earth system are at such a scale that we have become a geological force. If we are to not just survive but flourish, we urgently need to create robust and practical solutions to a set of interacting global challenges. No science, mathematics, or engineering prerequisites are required for the course. You will develop the skills to become an agent of change for a sustainable future.

This MSc can be taken part-time over 2 years. Please contact the Programme Director for further information.
