Overview
Nikol studied Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware in the USA before moving to the University of Southampton to complete a PhD. Her PhD was titled “Elucidating the genomics of nutritional and morphological traits in watercress (Nasturtium officinale R. Br.): The first genomic resources” and during this time she applied bioinformatic and laboratory-based approaches toward candidate gene discovery. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher for the Rare Diseases group (Twitter: @RDExeter) at the University of Exeter Medical School, working with Prof Andrew Crosby and Dr Emma Baple.

Research
Research interests
Nikol is a member of the Rare Diseases Research Group at the University of Exeter, led by Prof Andrew Crosby and Dr Emma Baple. Her interests are in the identification of the genetic causes and the elucidation of the molecular basis of rare inherited diseases. Nikol’s work is currently focused on monogenic inherited neurodegeneration.
