Surveillance stream has come to an end

The CATCh-uS surveillance study has now closed!

Between November 2015 and November 2016, BPSU registered paediatricians reported 357 cases, and CAPSS registered psychiatrists reported 347 cases of current patients that would reach the age boundary of their service within the next 6 months and would require ongoing treatment for their ADHD. Return rates were 91% and 67% respectively. The nine month follow up had a return rate of 84% for BPSU and 79% for CAPSS.

Some initial analysis has already been completed. 87% of the cases notified by psychiatrists, and 94% reported by paediatricians were White British; 75% via psychiatrists and 81% by paediatricians were male. Around 50% of cases were referred to a specialist Adult ADHD service, and of those referred by psychiatrists 85% were accepted, while 58% referred by paediatricians were accepted.

Thank you to all who have contributed and notified us of ADHD cases requiring transition to an adult service. Any clinicians with outstanding questionnaires, please continue to return them to us.
